Jim has been a loyal user of Nikon equipment since 2003. While they don’t make his beloved Nikon D3100, Nikon now produces a fine basic DSLR model, the D7500. Jim recommends investing in a hefty digital single reflex lens camera because it has many capabilities that cheaper “point and shoot” or even phone cameras have. For example, you can take very high resolution photos, you can use all manual settings to keep the shutter open for 10 seconds to take nighttime photos, and much more. Once you get one, you may never use your phone’s camera again. You can attach longer, telephoto lenses, as well as tripods and flash units for truly professional photos.
